Merlin is a beautiful
wooden sailing craft built on the lines of a Victorian Bristol
Pilot Cutter, using the same time-proven design and construction
methods. She is comfortable, fast, safe, and easy to sail
which makes her an ideal charter yacht for both experienced
and novice crews. She is just right for family sailing holidays,
weekend trips, racing, corporate charter and film work.
Merlin can accommodate up to 8 in comfort for extended periods,
and she can take 12 for day charters.
Launched in 2010, Merlin combines the
qualities of a traditional yacht with the conveniences
of modern life. She is fully equipped with the latest
marine electronics, safety equipment and navigation systems,
and all the facilities expected of a modern sailing boat.
Merlin is based at Plymouth Yacht Haven, (the site of the RAF Mountbatten flying boat base, where T E Lawrence served as an airman, after his adventures in Arabia after the First World War). Plenty of parking is available for guests, and nearby Plymouth Railyway Station offers an alternative route to the boat. Merlin's mooring is just a short sail along the coast to the private sandy beaches and beautiful cliffs of the South Devon Coastline, and an easy sail to Dartmouth, Salcombe, Fowey and Falmouth. Brittany, Cherbourg, the Scilly Isles and the Channel Islands are a day's sail away. Additionally, she is ideally located for day sails and evening 'sundowner' cruises, sponsored by Dartmouth Gin...
